About LearningLab DTU

The aim of LearningLab DTU is to inspire and support teachers, students, and management at DTU in working for a continuous development of the quality of study programmes, teaching and learning at DTU.

Through our activities we support the development, innovation, and exploration of teaching with student learning as the focal point. We contribute to further the development of  pedagogical environments at DTU including the teachers´ professional teaching competencies.

Our activities are based on well-tested knowledge from teaching practice as well as on Danish and international research on university pedagogy.

Do not hesitate to contact us with your thoughts and ideas, or if you need sparring in connection with your teaching. We also offer to support the departments and groups of teachers on initiatives that aim to develop study programmes and teaching.

LearningLab DTU's core activities are:

  • Pedagogical training of DTU’s teachers – new and experienced faculty members, PhD supervisors, teaching assistants, PhD students, and laboratory technicians.
  • Guidance in connection with pedagogical development of teaching and education programs, teaching and assessment methods, and supervision.
  • Advice on methods and technologies within e-learning, including online courses and other kinds of IT supported teaching.
  • Evaluations of study programmes and teaching.
  • Guidance on how to study the effects of educational development initiatives and to publish the results.
  • Organisation of study introduction modules for new students.
  • Dissemination of knowledge and information about literature, conferences, courses, networks, projects, and other initiatives within the didactics of engineering education and university pedagogy – in Denmark and internationally.

LearningLab DTU consists of a number of permanent staff supplemented by a network of pedagogical coordinators, supervisors, and teachers from DTU's departments. We find it very important to cooperate closely with competent DTU faculty members on the development and teaching of our courses. In addition, we avail ourselves of external experts to partake in LearningLab DTU's activities – e.g. in connection with our courses and seminars.
